The earliest button has a history of more than 4,600 years


Archaeological experts have recently discovered the earliest button found in China so far in Lintao County. After textual research, this button belongs to the Qijia culture and has a history of more than 4,600 years. The button is 2.5 cm in diameter and 1 cm thick in the middle. The surrounding edges are relatively thin, and there are two small holes similar to buttonholes. The whole button is muddy orange-yellow pottery, the color is earthy yellow, and the pottery surface is relatively rough.

This pottery button unearthed in Lintao is the only one in the country. This discovery confirms that the ancestors began to sew clothes to hide from the cold more than 4,000 years ago. It is very valuable for studying the lives of the ancestors.
